Richard Segal was born and educated in Johannesburg, South Africa where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree.
He entered the life insurance business in
1977 and
was a Qualifying and Life Member of the Million Dollar Round
Table. He is among the top 1% of insurance agents who
qualified
for Top of the Table status.
He was granted the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in
1982. He is past President of the Toronto CLU Chapter and is
a
past Trustee of the CLU Institute. Richard also organized the
first national CLU conference.
Richard has been offering financial planning to clients since 1984, and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He is a past Director of the Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Association of Financial Planners and a past President of the Scarborough Estate and Financial Planning Council.
He appeared regularly on “Money Talks”, a CHFI Radio program dedicated to the discussion of money matters. He also appeared weekly on CP 24’s “Closing Bell”, TVOntario’s “Small Business” program, Rogers Cable’s “Financial Planning” series and a live national financial planning question and answer program on Global TV.
Richard has spoken at seminars for numerous organizations including the University of Toronto, Seneca College, and CCH Canadian Limited. He is currently a board member for the Integrative Management Challenge run by the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
He is a co-author of “Wealth Creation for the Salaried Executive” which is a Canadian guide to executive and managerial compensation and tax planning.
Richard’s charitable work includes being a member of Rotary International for a number of years and an organizer of an annual golf tournament for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.
